The Gaertner Dividing Engine is capable of ruling lines on circular blanks up to 700mm in diameter, with a maximum total number of 129,600 lines or grooves, and with an accuracy of ± one second arc. Radial gratings can be ruled on both horizontal and vertical substrates by using specially designed holders for conventional ruling tools. The engine is fully automatic, and similarly to our other ruling engines, is housed in a sub-surface, temperature controlled room. Currently, we can supply groove lengths of .5 to 25mm. Table 1 and 2 list some of the many groove spacing possibilities of this engine.
